Torchwood Classic Big Bang 2 - Writers sign-up post

Thank you to all the writers who said they'd be interested in taking part again. So here we are.

Basic timeline:
1st October - AUTHOR & ARTIST SIGN UPS OPEN
10th December - AUTHOR SIGN UPS CLOSE
15th February - AUTHOR ROUGH DRAFTS DUE
16th February to 1st March - ANONYMOUS SELECTION OF FIC FOR ART WORK
16TH February - POSTING DAYS SIGN-UP POST OPENED.
16th – 31st March - BIG BANGS POSTED
7th April- AMNESTY DAY

There is the option of either writing a big bang with a word count of 15k, or a mini bang of 7.5k. These are the minimum amounts, stories can be as long as you want providing you can get them finished in time.

All stories will need to be beta'd. You can use you usual beta if you wish, or there will be a beta request and volunteer post going up once sign ups have finished.

Is anybody interested in a second round?

So it's getting close to a year ago that sign-ups for the first Classic Torchwood Big Bang opened and I was thinking would anybody be interested in a second round.

15th January - POSTING DAYS SIGN-UP POST OPENED.
14th - 28th February - BIG BANGS POSTED
7th March - AMNESTY DAY

Any suggestions for changing the dates will be listened to. Do you want sign ups to open sooner? or more time between when the rough draft is due and when the posting starts? Is a month long enough for artists to create their art? Or is October to February not long enough to write the big bang? Would say mid September to middle of March work better? Or something else entirely. Or is there just not enough interest for it any more?

That said even if there are only three people who want sign-up for it I'll still run it.

Posting is over (well mostly)

It's March, and all the posting dates are gone, so you can now go and post you stories out to whichever comms or wherever else you like.

There are a couple of stories that haven't been posted yet. If you want to post to this comm. as part of round one of

tw_classic_bb could you post them before the 15th - when I'll be doing a master post of all the stories this round.
Otherwise just post them where you want, and you can say that it was for

tw_classic_bb if you want.

Catching Up With The Sun

Series' Included: Pre-series, but with canonic timeline including Doctor Who Series 2. Vague information from Torchwood Series 1 and one little scene from Doctor Who Season 5, but nothing spoilery.
Characters: Jack, Owen, Tosh, Ianto, Gwen, with a spattering of OCs and others
Pairings: Jack/Ianto, background Gwen/Rhys, Gwen/Owen?
Gen/Het/Slash: Slash, but very mild. I’m disappointed about that, but my beta made me cut out all the tongue for the sake of 'characterization.'
Rating: Pretty solid T for And I Must Scream situations and somewhat graphic descriptions of bloody things.
Word Count: Slightly over 13,000 words
Beta: The wonderful Tech Duinn, who was not nearly as much of a dragon lady as she claimed to be, and totally saved this fic. Heaps of praise and gratitude upon her feet!
Artist: charie_caphine who... I had to stop in the middle of posting to calm myself down because I was staring at the art too long and starting to squee and flail, so, yeah. Also, she did way too much, I have no idea why. That doesn't mean I'm not hoarding it.

Summary: In the fall of 1974, Jack Harkness, Owen Harper and Toshiko Sato are captured while they investigate a string of disappearances that stretch back to the forties. In a horrifying twist of fate, they find themselves transformed into inanimate objects, and there is no help in sight. Unable to speak, move independently or even breathe, what can Jack the pocket watch do to save the world from invasion, his team from insanity, and himself from a broken heart?

Author’s Notes: This was a really difficult fic to write, far outside my usual and I really need to thank again my beta, Tech Duinn. She is a goddess who performed such feats as editing 22 pages in a few hours and making me admit that I’m not perfect. It was her influence that changed this from a totally boring thing that I scribbled on graph paper during finals week to something I don’t actually feel ashamed to post.

Artist story claiming post.

Classic Torchwood big bang has now reached the stage where artists are needed.

To sign up for to be an artist for a story comment on this post saying with number story you want. I will reply to the comment to let you know you've got it. After that I'll PM you to tell you who the story is by, I will also PM the writer to tell them you are doing the artwork. You can then contact each other and sort out the details of the artwork.

You can produce: traditional art (drawing, painting etc), digital art, photomanips, fan mixes, cover art.

If you sign up to be the an artist for a story, but then can't do it let me know as soon as you can, and then I'll have time find another artist so the writer still gets art to go with their story.

To begin with one story claim per artist. If, after a week, some stories are still without an artist you can sign up for a second.

Rough Drafts due 12th of January

The deadline for rough drafts due in the next few hours, and there are about a quarter of the people signed up who haven't been in contact.

I've replied to everybody who has sent in a rough draft, and to extensions and writers leaving this round. If you've sent me something and haven't had a reply I've not received it, so could you send it again.

If you need more time that's okay, drop me a comment or pm, remember the last posting day isn't until 29th of Feb, six weeks from now.

If you can't get you rough draft to me for whatever reason, but know that the fic will be done by the end of February, could you let me have the header information: Title (if known), characters, rating, warnings (if applicable), summary (this can be brief, just line or two.)

This information is needed for the artist sign ups which will happen this coming weekend - so that the artist have time to make the artwork.

If you're dropping out let me know, and I won't think that my email has eaten your rough draft.

Rough Drafts due 12th of January

I had intended to post this on the 3rd, giving a week's notice before the 10th. As it is things got a way from me a bit, hence the two extra days to get the rough drafts in.

So rough drafts need to get to thesilversun79 (at) gmail.com by the end of 12th of January in whichever time zone you are in.

Please include the following header on your rough draft.

Artists claims for fic will go up on the 14th of January.

The fics will be anonymous during the claiming.

Writer sign ups are now closed.

A little bit late getting this post up, but this is to say that writer sign ups are now closed.

There have been 28 sign ups, 18 big bangs and 10 mini bangs.

The artist sign ups are still open and will be until January when the rough drafts are due. More artists are going to be needed as there are only four signed up at present.
